Your thoughts here are intriguing. It is true that what infuses art with life is something within how the artist bent, or abstracted, what they have seen. I have to admit that I had never viewed it in quite that way before. We might even say that some of what art does for us is within the conversation and thought processes it sparks for us.... along with its impact visually in its own right.

I think your words will cause me to look very differently, more intelligently, at the art I view from now on.

hallo Curtis

firstly thank you for the links ... it is such a lovely surprise when you find that someone has linked to you without your knowing!

and secondly, I am very glad to have found this site. Being fairly new to abstraction I am at a very wobbly stage of doubt about all manner of things. Your posts are helping me to straighten my thoughts out and strengthen my resolve! Much of what you are saying are thoughts and questions that have been crossing my mind of late.

my art education is sadly lacking and so scholarly discussion is something I welcome very much.

thank you.

I think in a free society one has to take the good with the bad. Whatever perception the good has been cooked up to be is a mixture of a few influential individuals (and their idea of what that is) and the masses that follow them. So today everything is art.
