Numerous sarcophagi dating back to the Imperial age were decorated with incredible battle scenes. From the time of its origins, the Roman society was strongly rooted in a military spirit, which influenced its entire development, becoming a way of life. The tireless Roman spirit of expansionism with the help of a military practice that basically developed into a veritable art form, of and by itself, supported by firm faith in cultural supremacy of Rome. This led to the formation of one of the largest and longest-lived empires in history.

"It is the creative potential itself in human beings that is the image of God."
