keystone

The center wedge-shaped piece at the crown of an arch that locks the other pieces in place.


kitsch

A term categorizing art that is considered an inferior copy of an existing style. The term is also used more loosely in referring to any art that it is pretentious or in bad taste. Kitsch is considered to be diametrically opposite of fine art.


knife painting

A painting, usually using oil paint, that was created using painting knives. More often, because of greater texture, the style of knife paintings tend to be impressionism and particularly abstract expressionism.
